Network Server Monitor remotely monitors your network server to insure your server is available 24/7/365. We are able to monitor the availability of your server (by ping utility) as well as the server's services (e.g. http, SMTP, telnet, ssh, ftp). If we are unable to reach your server, we will send you an immediate email about your server unreachability.

All monitoring is documented, staticticaly processed and then response times and availability graphs of your services are generated.

What is Network Server Monitor - system of several NSMon centers (5 at present) located in different ISP data centers in Europe and North America.

What is NSMon center - the center that checks the availability of monitored services at a regular intervals.

What is monitored service - a host:port pair, where host is a host name or ip address of a monitored server and port is a port number of monitored server (e.g. 80 for http - web service, 25 for SMTP - mail service). If the port number is set to 0, then ping only checks are performed.

What is availability check - NSMon server sends syn packet (or icmp packet for port=0) to a monitored service at a regular intervals and measures the response time of the return packet. If the server returns REJECT packet or no answer is returned during the timeout period (5 sec), the attempt is labeled as failed. If more than one half of all NSMon centers detect the failure of the monitored service, this service is declared as unavailable. Our system immediately informs the user about this service unavailability by an e-mail.

Response times of particular services from all NSMon centers are collected, measuring errors (single timeouts) are removed and inserted into the database for graph creation. The clean data is also aggregated for yearly, monthly and last-30-day statistics.
