Network ToolsThe most useful netwokt tools available online - ping, traceroute, whois, dig, IP Locator or Internet Speed Test meter. You can use it for free. PingPing is one of the most useful network debugging tools available. It takes its name from a submarine sonar search - y ou send a short sound burst and listen for an echo - a ping - coming back. In an IP network, ping sends a short data burst - a single packet - and listens for a single packet in reply. Since this tests the most basic function of an IP network (delivery of single packet), it's easy to see how you can learn a lot from some pings. TracerouteTraceroute is a network debugging utility that attempts to trace the path a packet takes through the network - its route. WhoisWhois is used to lookup records in InterNIC's main database for second-level domains. DigDig, the domain information grouper, is a tool that sends DNS queries to servers and prints the replies. I think most network engineers find it more useful than nslookup, which has now be depricated by ISC, anyway. IP LocatorIP Locator is a tool for identify geographical location of servers or clients ip address. Internet Speed TestInternet Speed Test gives you information about your internet connection bandwidth. |
